My Blog
I’m not writing to give clinical advice or a self-help checklist. I’m writing to share real-life brokenness in hopes that it might shine light into someone else’s dark tunnel.
Whether you’re a
… prisoner shackled to shame
… single parent left holding the bag
… parent of a kiddo with mental health struggles
… troubled teenager living in oppressive chaos
… an angry fighter tired of all the pat answers
… or a needy, broken-hearted soul longing for truth
I see you. You’ve come to the right place and I trust you’ll find encouragement here.
“God didn’t say it would be easy. He said it would be worth it.” -unknown
Growing up in an every-kind-of-way oppressive environment, my idea of freedom was to escape. If only I can get away from them. Of course, there is an element of freedom in doing so and some necessary healthy boundaries as well. But the thing I didn’t realize was that the oppression lurked inside me. I’ve walked the road of “looking for love in all the wrong places” and crept the earth feeding myself the crumbs of chaotic dissonance. How do I know what’s true, normal, real or good? Who can I trust? Is there anyone who understands? Do you ever wonder the same?
As I’ve tilled oppression’s soil over the years, digging deep for truth and fiercely pursuing love, God has planted seeds of hope in my soul. It’s the fruit of these seeds I want to share with you. May you "taste and see that the Lord is good."
Amid endless hours of seeking to understand and even thriving in a mentally and emotionally complex environment, God’s rooted a passion in me to “…spend myself on behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed… to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke.” (Isaiah 58:6, 9b) My heart’s desire is to bring a raw, fresh, faith-based perspective to the messy realities of pursuing wholeness and redemption in the midst of mental, emotional, psychological and spiritual oppression.
Here you’ll find stories packed with redemption, steeped in heartache, forged through forgiveness, powered by perseverance, covered in compassion, ignited by injustices and mended through mercy. I pray you’ll be inspired to live whole-heartedly, find strength to stay the course and challenged to grow deeper in your relationship with Jesus, despite the hardships you’re facing.
